When you post a Reel video on Instagram, there are a few things you need to remember, otherwise your video may not be published… 😭

Normally, Dailyfy informs you of errors before you program your post, but sometimes it’s possible that your video won’t be published because of a format error. Check the following technical specifications:

Reel features on Instagram

  • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom in front of file.
  • Audio codec: AAC, maximum sampling frequency 48 kHz, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
  • Video codec : HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chromatic subsampling.
  • Frame rate: 23-60 fps.
  • Image size :

    • Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1,920
    • Proportions between 0.01:1 and 10:1 are necessary, although we recommend 9:16 to avoid empty spaces or cropping.
  • Video bit rate : VBR, 25 Mbit/s maximum
  • Audio bit rate: 128 Kbps
  • Duration: 15 minutes maximum, 3 seconds minimum
  • File size: 300 MB maximum

Reel cover features

  • Format: JPEG
  • File size: 8 MB maximum
  • Color space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will be converted to sRGB.
  • Proportions: we recommend 9:16 to avoid empty spaces or cropping. If the proportion of the original image is not 9:16, we crop the image and use the middle-most 9:16 rectangle as the reel’s cover photo. If you share a real in your feed, we crop the image and use the middle-most 1:1 square as the cover photo for your feed post.
